It’s coming back to me! I used to be fluent in baby talk, but that was a long time ago. But it’s coming back to me. “Why?” you may ask. Go ahead, ask me why. I mean it.
My baby talk is coming back because I am now a grandfather with a little grandson who is currently fluent in baby talk—very fluent.
At first, I could not understand a word he was saying. But as I said, it’s coming back to me.
I can now understand several phrases…
Of course, I’ve also learned some very encouraging phrases too…
Now perhaps you too have a little, precious grandchild and you’d like some hints on re-learning this language.
Oh, there’s one more phrase I love to hear from our little guy…
“I love you Sabba and Nanna!”

At first, I could not understand a word he was saying. But as I said, it’s coming back to me.
I can now understand several phrases…
- “Would you please change my diaper?”
- “Would you please change my diaper again?”
- “I’m hungry.”
- “I’m hungry again.”
- “I want to go to sleep.”
- “I don’t want to go to sleep when you want to go to sleep?”
Of course, I’ve also learned some very encouraging phrases too…
- “Aren’t I one of the cutest little guys you’ve ever seen?”
- “I can tell you love me.”
- “Thanks for all the presents you and Nanna give me.”
Now perhaps you too have a little, precious grandchild and you’d like some hints on re-learning this language.
- Make sure you use good eye contact.
- Listen very carefully.
- Have a play toy handy.
- Be alert, some times in the midst of the language, messing things can be projected at you.
